This Sidmouth detached house was perfect for the family except more bedroom space was required. In an ideal world a bedroom with en-suite would be perfect. The Property itself was by no means modest. However it did have a very small loft space, due to rafter slope being visible on the first floor (sunken loft).
A few companies had taken a look with not much inspiration being had. The only way forward in our opinion was the addition of a modest flat roof dormer which would allow the space required to convert an otherwise, un-used space.
Due to a lack of load bearing walls and other various structural considerations this was a tricky loft conversion to design plus maintain as much space with an eye on the end cost as well. The finished bedroom & en-suite have certainly enhanced the house. The design fits in wonderfully with the flow of the internal staircase. None of the existing rooms were compromised which is always our aim and end result is amazing!
