Fire protected glass screen

Fire protected glass screen

Due to the rules concerning fire regulation to a two-storey dwelling we need to make sure the house benefits from a “protected corridor” from the new loft room to a final exit, normally the front door. Most house already have this arrange subject to addition of fire doors. Some, however, have a section that is open plan. This can be quite common in Victorian terrace houses with the rear dinning room open to the existing staircase. Most of the time we would simply add a new wall and plaster the area. However, this fire protected screen is a no option. Whilst more expensive if does allow for a nice distribution of natural light.
