1930’s Semi Detached House- hip to cedral gable with flat roof dormer
Exeter 1930’s semi-detached house loft conversions are top on our list of work we carry out. We were contacted to quote for a hip to gable plus flat roof dormer loft conversion by this lovely couple. They had great ideas on what they wanted in an ideal conversion including the many finishes the external elevations could have.
The “first draft” design we provide was to remove the existing hip end and replace with a new gable or “Hip-to-Gable loft conversion”. This would allow the new staircase to continue about the existing set of stairs. In addition to this a flat roof dormer to the rear elevation will allow for an en-suite above the existing bathroom, plus it would dramatically increase the amount of available headroom.
Having looked at the proposal lots of questions were sent across to us. A follow up quote was provided incorporating the design changes requested.
Final hip to gable loft conversion had a Cedral gable along with a Cedral flat roof dormer to the rear roof slope including a glass Juliet balcony. One Fakro roof window was positioned to the front roof slope to allow the master bedroom a greater spread of light and ventilation.
Built in cupboards behind the bed were added for storage and to position headboard of bed in the optimum position to appreciate the fabulous view from the French doors and balcony. Built in wardrobes along with an amazing en-suite add to the final fantastic conversion.
In the words of our client Mr & Mrs P “We had lots of quotes for our loft conversion. The minute Chris came round we could tell he knew exactly what he was talking about. Having now come out the other side with a loft even better than we could have hoped, I couldn’t recommend attic designs highly enough. Proper craftsmen who are a joy to work with. We were sad to see them go. Don’t waste your time going anywhere else”.
